What is a Gravity Bong

What is a Gravity Bong

For those of you out there wondering what a gravity bong is, it’s a just a bong that is made up of a few parts. The typical gravity bong consists of a bottle, a bucket, a bowl, and of course whatever your smoking on. Basically, the end product should be something like this:

Now obviously if your bong is homemade it won’t look precisely like this one but it should still function the same. They can be made with plastic water bottles, Gatorade bottles, etc. You want to fill your bucket up with water but not all the way, then when your bottle is in the bucket, and as you begin to light the bowl, slowly pull the bottle out of the bucket. As the bottle rises, the bowl will continue to burn, allowing for minimal waste.

Gravity bongs are very classical, started getting popular sometime in the early-mid 90’s, and have the reputation of getting the job done rapidly! They allow a lot of smoke to build up in the bucket making it a bit harsher than your typical bong because it goes directly to your lungs and its unfiltered smoke. If your looking to save on herb, and think your ready for a bong that makes you feel like the wind is being stripped out of your lungs, maybe this is for you!

  1. Hey there!

Funny thing is, I’ve been smoking for over 15 years and I haven’t really bothered to look into all the different types of smoking instruments you’re able to utilize!

Your article, and even entire website would be of good use for me to catch up on some of the unique ways I can smoke. Good explanation with illustrations about what a gravity bong is!

    Cheers,

    1. Thanks, Brooke! I really appreciate the fact that you’ll be able to use the article to help you, but yeah I’ve been smoking for many years too and never really took the time to explore all the different options. Never know what’s out there!

  2. Heheh awesome article! That’s a rad little setup there.

Brings back a lot of memories, first time I ever was introduced to a gravity bong it was a beast of contraption made with gallon sized gatorade bottles, and a socket for the bowl haha

Thanks for all the great info!

  3. There are so many options when it comes to bongs, that many people don’t even know. I only just recently found out about ice bongs, and now glass bongs!? Awesome of you to introduce “gravity bongs.” I still don’t know what the best option would be though – what’s your opinion?

    1. Hey Chase!

Yeah there are a lot of options, I’d recommend the “Colorship Mothership Inspired Faberge Egg Bong! It’s cheap and it hits really smooth. The thing I like about it best is that it feels like your holding a light crystal ball that gets filled up with smoke. https://www.smokecartel.com/products/the-colorship-mothership-inspired-faberge-egg-rig?variant=28160792584#ref=954
